Q. Who is eligible
for classes?
A. We accept students of all ages and abilities. However,
those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Q. What should I bring?
A. First and foremost, remember to travel light. Secondly,
Manuel Antonio is a very informal beach town. Comfort is your
number one priority. You should try to include a towel, two
bathing suits, sunscreen, a flashlight, alarm clock, small
Spanish dictionary, and rain coat. This especially holds true
for the rainy season from May until November when it generally
is sunny in the morning and rains a few hours in the afternoon.
Q. What are
the study materials used in the school?
A. Pedro Cabrera has written a course book based on 10 years
of teaching experience. This book is packed with information
and will be given to all students at the beginning of their
stay.
Q. What
health precautions should I take before arriving in Costa
Rica?
A. Talk with your doctor or state health authority about the
necessary shots before leaving (They usually have a chart
with the appropriate vaccinations for various countries &
regions around the world. In Costa Rica there is little problem.)
The water in Quepos and Manuel Antonio is purified and healthy
to drink.
Q. Should
I get travel insurance before arriving?
A. Costa Rica is internationally known for high quality health
care at reasonably low prices. However, travel insurance can
cover medical emergencies, property loss, or trip cancellations
that go beyond what you are able to cover financially. If
you are considering it, find out if your current insurance
provider will cover all or part of your travel abroad, or
if you can purchase this coverage as an additional charge.
Q. Should I bring a gift
for my host family?
A. If you like you can bring a gift for your family. Simple,
inexpensive gifts like chocolates, pens and pencils, a T-shirt,
children's books in Spanish or English, postcards of your
hometown or state. Also, your family will probably be interested
in your life at home. Any photos of your house, friends, and
family are a great beginning for cultural exchange.
Q. What if I want to
leave early
A. See our refund policy here.
Q. What documents
do I need to enter Costa Rica?
A. You will be required to have a passport that expires at
least 6 months after your arrival and a return ticket out
of the country. There are no mandatory inoculations for entering
Costa Rica.
Q. Can you help
me arrange trips of my own around Costa Rica?
A. We will be glad to assist you if the Pura Vida Language
School is just one stop on your tour through Costa Rica. We
also can arrange travel from Manuel Antonio to anywhere in
the country for significantly discounted prices for our students.
Please ask us about available options if interested.
Q. Where can I get more
information or have additional questions answered?
A. We urge you to email us at info@pvlanguageschool.com
or call Andrew in the United States at 617-686-4939. If you
already speak some Spanish you can call Max at the school
in Costa Rica at 011-506-777-2164.
